The Georgia Department of Public Health is seeking qualified candidates to serve as the State Dental Director of the Georgia Oral Health Unit for the Maternal and Child Health Program.

Job Description
Under general supervision of the MCH Director, duties include but are not limited to planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Georgia Oral Health (GOH) Program.
• Assess oral health needs to assure that community Georgia Oral Health (GOH) services are adequate, appropriate, accessible and that issues are addressed
• Plan and develop the overall operation of the statewide oral health program.
• Maintain awareness of advances in dental medicine (check additional hints here), computerized diagnostic and treatment equipment, data processing technology, government regulations, health insurance charges, and financing options
• Coordinate human resources and direct administrative activities for GOH Staff
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of GOH services and programs to include design, develop, and implement appropriate GOH program policies, protocols and procedures which are in compliance with the most current accepted professional standards
• Oversee the planning, development, scheduling, and implementation of GOH programs and activities
• Develop, review, monitor and ensure compliance of program budget; administer program grants and contracts. Participates in the preparation of the grant application for the GOH and assumes primary responsibility for developing and implementing the program work plan.
• With collaboration from the MCH Epidemiology Office, perform community assessments and develop policies and plans based on data collection, activity reports, planning documents, program plans and objectives
• Plan and organize program structure and policies to meet statewide and programmatic objectives across the health districts
• Plan, organize, and direct the work of the state dentists to provide continuous active treatment to the patients served
• Provide training, consultation, and technical assistance to providers and other state and local agencies associated with the implementation of program services
• Prepare and submit monthly written reports on GOH issues, concerns, program status, initiatives and progress to the MCH Director. Prepares specific reports as requested by the MCH Director
• Assist in the provision of technical assistance and health education to the districts as requested
• Participate in short and long term program planning for GOH and the agency, including development of goals and objectives
• Travel when necessary to fulfill organizational needs and attends meetings as necessary to represent GOH program and the Department of Public Health
Qualifications
Three years of experience in public health dentistry, two years of which were at a level equivalent to District Dental Director, or similar program management job.
Eligible for license to practice dentistry in Georgia. Once hired, licensure to practice dentistry in Georgia is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to applicants who in addition to meeting the entry qualifications possess the following:
• Master’s degree in Public Health
• Dental Public Health Residency
• Additional years of experience as a dentist, especially a public health dentist
• Experience managing technical staff and managing budgets

This position is a pay grade 22 on the statewide salary plan. Position number 80766. The Annual Minimum is $69,444.17, Midpoint is $95,462.46, and Maximum is $121,480.75. Salary is based upon education/experience/licensure (if appropriate) and availability of funding.
