NACCHO Begins Vaccines for Children Campaign

The following announcement is from the National Association of County and City Health Officials to its membership:

We wanted to alert you to the possibility that your local health department may begin to receive phone calls in response to a new campaign to promote the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program that NACCHO is launching with support from Sanofi Pasteur.

This month, radio stations in English- and Spanish-speaking markets across the country will begin airing interviews conducted by NACCHO Board member Dr. Herminia Palacio, Executive Director, Harris County Public Health and Environmental Services (Houston, TX) encouraging listeners to contact their healthcare provider or local health department to learn how to access no- or low-cost vaccines for children and teens.

The radio tour featuring Dr. Palacio is the beginning of a broader campaign that will be phased in over the next several weeks. Public service announcements will soon be available for download from NACCHO’s website. In the coming weeks, NACCHO will provide information about how local health departments can order free VFC campaign posters and tear-pads for themselves and to share with community organizations and businesses well positioned to reach VFC-eligible families who may not know about the program.

Talking points are now available here. To learn more about the campaign and when campaign materials will be available, visit www.naccho.org/VFC.
