In our legislative report for the week ending February 28th, our legislative liaison Scott Maxwell provides updates on a slew of bills related to public health.
One bill that saw progress this week was SB 327. The Senate Labor and Insurance Committee approved SB 327 (Zahra Karinshak-D) that modifies the requirement for businesses to provide break time and a private location for an employee who needs to express milk for her nursing child. The changes appeared to have support from both the business community and advocates for nursing mothers. The bill has both Democratic and Republican cosigners.
