GPHA Leaders Named Public Health Legends

GPHA members Dr. Doug Skelton, M.D. and Dr. Kathryn Martin were recently honored by being named “Public Health Legends” by the Mercer University Public Health Association (MPHA). Dr. Bill Bina, dean of the Mercer University School of Medicine, and Dr. Al Dever, founding director of Mercer University School of Medicine’s Master of Public Health program were also honored.

The honorees were recognized for their roles in creating the Mercer University School of Medicine Master of Public Health program. The event was hosted and organized by Mercer MPHA students including  Sabin Momin, Yamiece Gilbert, Simone Venning, Seyi Adegboye, Letitia Aryeetey, Stephanie Portis, and Latoya Beatty.

The event was created to highlight the founders and continuing leadership of the Mercer University Master of Public Health program and the Mercer University Public Health Association. The night of celebration provided students a chance to honor those who have substantially impacted the future of public health for the state of Georgia.
