Senate Passes FY 2018 Budget
The big news from this week at the legislature was passage of the Senate version of the FY 18 budget. Unsurprisingly, the Senate did not agree with the House on every line item and a conference committee has been created to negotiate the differences.

The Council of Affiliates (CoA) is sponsoring an affiliate poster session and two student poster sessions for the upcoming APHA 2017 Annual Meeting & Exposition in Atlanta, GA (November 4-8, 2017). The deadline for submitting poster abstracts is April 30.

Report from the Midway Point of the GA General Assembly Session
Friday, February 17 was the halfway mark of the 2017 Georgia General Assembly session. Gov. Nathan Deal signed the FY 17 Amended budget this past week, and The House of Representatives passed the FY 18 appropriations bill Friday morning and sent it over to the Senate for consideration.
GPHA Conference Scholarship Application
The Georgia Public Health Association is offering a limited number of scholarships to students for the 88th Annual Meeting and Conference in Atlanta, Georgia on April 11-12, 2017. The application deadline is February 27.
Call for Proposals: Georgia Walks Summit
Organizers are now accepting proposals for sessions at the Georgia Walks summit in August on May 4-5. Desired topics include pedestrian-friendly design and operations, safety, healthy communities, accessibility, equity, land use, placemaking and community engagement.
