Nominations are being solicited for the 2010 Committee on Affiliates (CoA) Awards. Three awards will be given this year – the Award for Excellence, Outstanding Affiliate of the Year and Student Award.
These awards will be presented on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at the CoA Reception at the APHA Annual Meeting in Denver.
Johanna Hinmann, GPHA’s Represemtative to the APHA, encourages GPHA members to submit nominations, and offers her help and support. “As GPHA’s American Public Health Association (APHA) Affiliate Representative to the APHA Governing Council, I have the opportunity to brag to other state representatives about the strength of the Georgia Public Health Association,” says Hinmann. “This awards program is the chance for all GPHA members to participate in this friendly competition by nominating GPHA itself and/or individual GPHA member for recognition by our colleagues from across the country.”
The CoA Award for Excellence is presented to an individual who exhibits visionary leadership, service and achievement in her/his efforts within an affiliate(s).
The CoA Outstanding Affiliate of the Year Award is given to an APHA Affiliate that made significant contributions through innovative programs and activities that impact the public’s health.
The CoA Outstanding Student of the Year Award is designed to recognize outstanding involvement of an undergraduate or graduate student in a state, regional and/or national public health association.
This is the inaugural year for the student award. The CoA will provide a $250.00 scholarship each year to the award recipient.
The nomination deadline is August 27th.
If you know of a deserving GPHA member, please consider making a nomination for this awards program. “If folks are considering making an individual nomination or nominating GPHA for the Affiliate of the Year award, I’d be happy to provide whatever support I can,” says Hinmann.
